Thanks, I Needed That - Spa Castle

Nothing like enjoying a chilly late fall day in 99 degree waters.

The sheer force of these jets nearly killed me.

The tranquil sound of a waterfall.

Lots of saunas to get rid of those toxins.

Sometimes you need to get away even if it is not very far. Well today I did just that. I treated myself to a much needed "adult water park" day at Spa Castle in College Point (Queens). It was the best $35 I have spent in a long while. I try to get to Spa Castle a few times a year just to rejuvenate and holiday time, which can be a bit stressful, is usually when I need it the most. The facility opens at 6am and stays open until midnight, so you can literally spend the entire day luxuriating in the baths and saunas. This is the best quick "getaway" for me before my chariot turns back into a pumpkin and talk about bang for your buck - you can't beat it!

Mimi Plange Spring 2012

Mimi Plange Spring 2012

After attending a panel discussion on New African Fashion at the NY Public Library last week, I had to post about this Ghanaian born, California raised designer on the panel. Mimi Plange has been on the scene working her show since 2009 and her collections are just how I like them, classic but with a fresh new twist. Mimi finds inspiration in victorian historical fashion and tribal scarification and designs the most beautiful textiles for her pieces. The dress in the second photo is Fire! It is "the little black dress" on high.
