I feel like I need to bring the boat shoe back into my life and these Sperry Top-Siders are darling. Love the yellow and the "classic" green/blue combination.

Went to H&M and all I got was this "lousy" t-shirt
image via H&M
I got up this morning excited about Marni's debut at H&M. Managed to get the children up and out in a jiffy, dropped them off at school and hopped on the iron horse into Manhattan. I knew that there would be a line outside because that is usually how these designer debuts at H&M work. What I did not anticipate is to hear that people had been on line since 4 am waiting to get in the store. WOW! I guess they are the same people who live for Black Friday.
Nevertheless, I proceeded to the back of the line to receive my color coded wrist band with my "appointment" time which was at 10:45. Instead of waiting in line looking desperate I decided to walk the streets and take in the morning.
On my return I was allowed upstairs to the Marni "VIP" section which was quite understated in my opinion. I was expecting a bit more fanfare to be honest. Needless to say there was not much left to choose from, but from the looks of it, I do not think the entire collection made it to 18th street and 5th avenue. I did not want to consider the whole experience a bust, so I purchased the t-shirt pictured above which by the way is pretty fabulous.
Will I wait in line again for a designer debut? NO!
Was the experience worth it? NO!
Am I glad I did it? YES, so I can remember to never do this again.
Overall the experience was not a horrible one, it just was not for me. Afterall I am not a fashionista:)

She Better Mind Her Business - Corvida Raven
image via SheGeeks.net
I have really been stressed out lately about using social media. Although I know that it is important for running a business these days, I cannot seem to grasp how to make it all work. How to integrate the different platforms; which platforms are most effective in certain situations, blah, blah, blah. With all of that said, I thought it was appropriate to highlight a tech maven for She Better Mind Her Business Wednesdays.
Corvida Raven of SheGeeks.net was a sci fi loving, gadget tampering youngster with a love for all things technical. Her love for technology followed her to Hampton University where she majored in computer science but quickly discovered she did not want to program computers but help others understand technology.
On her blog Corvida writes about social media and the latest gadgets to hit the street. In addition to running SheGeeks.net, she has co-founded EverythingTwitter and The SocialGeeks Roundtable Podcast. Between social media consulting, blogging and freelance projects, this sister is beyond busy. I need to find her soon, maybe she can get me up to speed!

Classic shapes with macrame and lace - these pieces from Valentino's spring 2012 line are just so lady like but in your face with the kind of attention to detail that the House of Valentino delivers. Leading the design team since 2008, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have done it again. They have created a collection full of elegance, opulence and dreams.
