I got up this morning excited about Marni's debut at H&M. Managed to get the children up and out in a jiffy, dropped them off at school and hopped on the iron horse into Manhattan. I knew that there would be a line outside because that is usually how these designer debuts at H&M work. What I did not anticipate is to hear that people had been on line since 4 am waiting to get in the store. WOW! I guess they are the same people who live for Black Friday.
Nevertheless, I proceeded to the back of the line to receive my color coded wrist band with my "appointment" time which was at 10:45. Instead of waiting in line looking desperate I decided to walk the streets and take in the morning.
On my return I was allowed upstairs to the Marni "VIP" section which was quite understated in my opinion. I was expecting a bit more fanfare to be honest. Needless to say there was not much left to choose from, but from the looks of it, I do not think the entire collection made it to 18th street and 5th avenue. I did not want to consider the whole experience a bust, so I purchased the t-shirt pictured above which by the way is pretty fabulous.
Will I wait in line again for a designer debut? NO!
Was the experience worth it? NO!
Am I glad I did it? YES, so I can remember to never do this again.
Overall the experience was not a horrible one, it just was not for me. Afterall I am not a fashionista:)
